DAVENPORT -- Charles J. Botkin, Davenport, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport, after a brief illness. Private family services will be held today at Halligan-McCabe-De Vries Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will take place in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. There will be no visitation. Mr. Botkin was born Jan. 31, 1910, in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Arthur A. and Muriel (Martin) Botkin. He married Grace Mary McGinn. She preceded him in death. He then married Lucille Sutton. She preceded him in death. He retired from Alcoa Davenport Works. He was an avid sports fan, and especially enjoyed the Atlanta Braves and Iowa Hawkeyes. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, John and Phyllis Botkin, Marion, Iowa, Ed Botkin, Petersville, Iowa, and Charles and Susan Botkin, Blue Grass, Iowa; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and stepsons, Merle Acord, Princeton, Iowa, and Dick Abraham, Campbells Island, Ill. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ellen Botkin, in 1955; a sister, Helen Niblock; and a brother, Martin Botkin.
