A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.

Fran Larkin was a special man. His physical presence will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His kind spirit of love and caring will continue to bless those who knew him.

"Francis Bernard Larkin, Jr. 69, died Saturday June 25, 2016 at Beverly Hospital after a year long illness. He was born in Hyannis,MA on December 20, 1946 to the late Francis B. and Norma (Kee) Larkin. He was raised in Harwich, MA and was a graduate of Harwich High School and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst .

Fran was employed by IBM in Boston, Connecticut and New York for 35 years before his retirement in 2004. Fran and his wife Kathleen lived and raised their family in Danbury, CT before moving to Newburyport 8 years ago.

In his retirement years Francis was a proud Board Member of Pennies for Poverty in Newburyport, he was also a Docent for the Newburyport Custom House and especially enjoyed giving tours to school children. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hiking, kayaking and biking, as well as running. He completed the New York Marathon and numerous road races. He was also very proud of his huge vegetable garden and pumpkin patch. He painted,wrote poetry, blogs and a memoir and published a book " 5 Words and Then Some".

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Francis’ name to Pennies for Poverty P.O. Box 532 Newburyport, MA 01950, or to Alzheimer's Association 480 Pleasant Street Watertown, MA 02472."

Francis Larkin is survived by his wife, his three children and their spouses, grandchildren, two sisters, nieces and nephews, and many cousins.

Names of living family members are omitted for privacy reasons.

A book has just been released about Fran Larkin’s life connection with his beloved Cape Cod. The book “Cape Cod Forever ... Growing up in the 50s and 60s” was edited and taken to print by Fran’s son. A beautiful tribute to not only to Cape Cod but to the man who loved and returned to the Cape often over his lifetime.
