Edward John Schaaf, age 90, of Pequot Lakes, MN, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2016, at his home. He was born to Charles and Sofia Schaaf on September 20, 1925, in Markville, MN. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Edward was united in marriage to Marjorie Wilson on March 26, 1949, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Markville, MN. Over the years, they made their home in Underwood, ND, Virginia, Hoyt Lakes, Minneapolis, Cass Lake, Belle Plaine for 30 years, Pequot Lakes and Dassel; and wintered in Harlingen, Texas from 1993 to 2007.

Edward was a life member of the American Legion and an active member of IUOE Local 49, Pelican Lake Conservation Club and Our Savior's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed traveling, wild ricing, cooking, animals and spending time outdoors.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Marjorie; son, Bruce; daughter, Stacie; brothers: James, Charles, Robert, Fred, George, John; sisters: Mena Golden, Louise Torrez, Lillian Rostberg and MaryLou Milligan.
He is survived by his wife, Ione; children: Barbara (Ron) Koschel, Marsha (Boyd) Schaaf-Rebers, Edward 2 (Fay) Schaaf, Tamme Giese, Doug Miller; daughter-in-law Joan Schaaf; son-in-law, Dennis Kuhlow; brother, Frank (Mary); sister, Marie (Gene) Stadick; brother-in-law, Harold Milligan; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Memorials are preferred to Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Kingston Apostolic Lutheran Church, Pelican Lake Conservation Club or to the American Legion of the donor's choice.
Services will be 10 AM on Wednesday, June 29, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Pequot Lakes. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 PM at Kline Funeral Home, Pequot Lakes and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be 3 PM on Wednesday at Kingston Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery, Kingston, MN.
