Josephine Amos, 84, of Hartshorne, died Saturday, June 25, 2016, in Muskogee. Josephine was born on September 4, 1931, in Carbon, to Jesse and Mary (Wagoner) Cockerham. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include daughter and longtime partner, Rachel Amos and Kenneth Cooley, of Dow; four grandchildren and spouses, Jodi and Rick Pingleton, of Hartshorne, Julie Ketcherside, of Krebs, Stefanie and Brandon Higgs, of McAlester, and Tray and Tammi Ardese, of McAlester; 12 great-grandchildren, Dylan, Jada, Jake, Amanda, Justin, Ethan, Brock, Tyler, Samantha, Madelyn, Gabe and Colby; six great-great-grandchildren, Ella, Samuel, Brooklyn, Grant, Brenleigh and Madilyn; sister, Carolyn Cockerham, of McAlester; numerous nieces and nephews, and special friends, Johnny Jones, Raylene Ardese and Ella Adams.
She was preceded in death by her son, William Joe Amos; parents; brothers, Jessie Cockerham and Edward Cockerham, and sisters, Betty Brock, Jackie Wilson and Mary Lou Cline. Pallbearers will be Eddie (Coot) Wilson, Rick Pingleton, Dylan Pingleton, Ethan Ardese, Brock Ardese and Gabe Lusk. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Brumley-Mills Chapel in Hartshorne with Robbie Cockerham and Tray Ardese officiating. Burial will be at Bache-Red Oak Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of Hartshorne.
