Obituary in The Shreveport Times June 25, 2016:

SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services celebrating the life of Boyd Lloyd, Sr., 89, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Plain Dealing, LA. Brother Bill Kincaid will be officiating. Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Boyd was born on September 4, 1926 in Shreveport to Craton and Tennie Knox Lloyd and passed away on June 24, 2016. He proudly served his country in the US Navy aboard the USS Sanborn, 3rd class Petty Officer. Boyd loved to share his story of supporting the troops at Iwo Jima and watched the Marines raise "Old Glory" on the beach. After WWII, Boyd returned to Shreveport and worked in the sheet metal trade. He was a member of the local 361 Union and continued to be a member until his passing. Boyd was also President of Rocky Mount hunting club and a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a caring, devoted father who had a heart of gold who never met a stranger. He will be dearly missed by all of those who knew and loved him.

Boyd was preceded in death by his parents, son Dave Lloyd, grandchild Steven Lloyd, brother Joe David Lloyd, and son-in-law George T. Westbrook. Left to cherish his memory are his sons Daniel Lloyd and wife Cheryl, and Boyd Lloyd, Jr. and wife Patricia; daughter Shirley Lloyd Westbrook; grandchildren Amber Keith, Crayton Lloyd, Michael Scott Lloyd, Daniel Paul Lloyd, Chrissy Rinaudo, Heather Westbrook, Megan Westbrook and numerous great-grandchildren; ex-wife Mary Lloyd; brothers Andy Lloyd and wife Barbara, and W.C. Lloyd; sisters Geneva Armour and husband Tim, Cynthia Lee McCabe and Joe David Lloyds family; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Honoring Boyd as pallbearers will be Crayton Lloyd, Michael Scott Lloyd, Daniel Paul Lloyd, John Lewis, Dale Hayes, and Josh Keith.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital , 3100 Samford Ave., Shreveport, LA 71103.
