Born with spina bifida, he was only expected to live less than five years, but through courage, strong will and lots of tender loving care, he lived 61 years and five days. Donnie worked for himself hauling cattle and gravel as long as he was able. He was also an active member of the American Quarterhorse Association, and the Paris Rodeo and Horse Club.
He is survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Jo and Duane Tallant and Jean Jones; eight nieces and nephews, Dennis Williams, Chester and Wesley Tallant, Denise Rhea and Mellisa Tallant, Donna Boykin and Russell Jones, and Monte Jones; 12 great-nieces and nephews; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Zona Posey Williams. The family has suggested that memorial donations may be made to the Ella C. McFadden Hospice at St. Joseph's Hospital and Health Center, if desired.'
Donnie was born with Spina Bifita. He learned to walk about the age of five. He walked with a swinging gate, and did more in his life then many able bodied men. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle and cousin. He lived many more years then doctors thought possible.
All of the TLC from the family and friends helped. He knew a multitude of people in Lamar County.
He is buried beside his mom and dad who loved him so much.
