STREET CAR HITS WOMAN; LOSES IN RACE WITH DEATH

A Harrison streetcar was pressed into service as an ambulance last night to rush to the county hospital a woman who had been struck and fatally injured by it. The victim, Mrs. Anna Brennock, of 4051 Congress Street died shortly after reaching the institution.

Mrs. Brennock had just left the Robert Emmet Memorial Hall, Ogden Avenue and Leavitt Street, where she had been attending a meeting of Ashland Council, Knights and Ladies of Security, of which she was second vice president accompanied by her brother-in-law, Patrick Brennock, 4856 Arthington Street, Maurice Burns, 4321 Jackson Boulevard, president of the organization; Mrs. Milton Pardi, 3820 West Congress Street, and Mrs. J. Byrnes, 4325 Wilcox Street. Mrs. Brennock was hurrying across Harrison Street at Leavitt to catch a car for home.

She darted from behind an automobile directly in the path of the streetcar and was struck before her companions could draw her back. Her friends and members of the car crew placed her aboard the car and made a run, without stops, to the hospital.
