Michael Lee Starkey

Michael Lee Starkey, 50, of Blackshear died early Friday morning, November 18, 2005, at the Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross after an extended illness.

He was a native of McMinnville, TN but had lived most of his life in Galveston, TX before moving to Pierce County in 2002. Mr. Starkey was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Irene Garner Starkey. Mr. Starkey retired as a deckhand in the shipyards in Galveston, TX and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

He is survived by his fiance Jean E. Fritzman of Blackshear; a son, Miles Starkey of Iowa; special friend Joy Wilson of Blackshear, and many other friends including Don, Dennis and Mike, all of Blackshear.

A memorial service was held Monday evening in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home.

Memorialization was by cremation.
