Marguerite Marie Moore of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2015. Marguerite was 88 years old at her time of death.
There will be a visitation at Don Grantham Funeral Home Sunday, February 22, from 1 to 4 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, February 23, at 10 a.m. at the Assumption Catholic Church in Duncan; the interment at the Duncan Cemetery, with lunch being served at the church afterwards.
Marguerite was a lifelong resident of Duncan and the daughter of Frank and Blanche Moore, who were early Oklahoma settlers, having made their home in Duncan. Marguerite attended Duncan schools and graduated as valedictorian in 1944. Upon graduating she entered St. Anthony School of Nursing in Oklahoma City.
Marguerite met the love of her life, Jesse Moore, following World War II and they were married on June 20, 1946, in the Assumption Catholic Church in Duncan. She retired from the Duncan Public School system after serving many years as the director of cafeteria services. Following retirement Marguerite and Jesse were both actively involved with Veterans and Ex-POW organizations. She was also actively involved with the Assumption Catholic Church and providing volunteer services to the AARP tax return preparation services for the elderly and needy.
Marguerite most recently proudly reigned as the Duncan Founders Day Queen. She was indeed a Queen, never having met person she did not like, with a big heart and always willing to help others in a time of need, admired and loved by all of her friends and relatives. She will be missed. We love you Mom.
Marguerite was preceded in death by Jesse on December 26, 2000, after 54 years of marriage.
Survivors include her daughter, Jessica Giacchi and husband Joe of Columbia Missouri; her three sons, Spencer Moore and wife Charlene of Duncan, Stanley Moore and wife Linda of Tulsa, and Randall Moore and wife Carol of Duncan. Marguerite and Jesse were also blessed with 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
