Mrs, Corrales was born Mary Lee Deck to Virgil Lee Deck and Ruby Lee Southwood in Mountainburg, Arkansas on June 21, 1925. She married Arthur J. Corrales on August 1, 1953. He passed away November 9, 2004.

After graduating from Lawton High School, she moved to San Francisco, California and went to work for the Departments of the Navy. Two San Francisco theatres (Haight and Divisadero) chose her to represent them in the War Bond Beauty contest to promote the sale of war bonds. She had her picture taken with Dick Powell and was introduced to his wife, June Allyson.

She returned to Lawton in 1951 and went to work for the Departments of the Army at Fort Sill. She attended night classes at Cameron College. Prior to becoming Managing Editor of the Field Artillery Journal Magazine, she edited Field Manuals, Technical Manuals, and instructional material for the Field Artillery School. She was loaned to the Nuclear Weapons Division of the Tactics and Combined Arms Department to review their instructional material. When it came time for her to leave, the officers presented her with an honorary Prefix-5 (nuclear weapons) and dubbed her "Mrs. Artillery." As Managing Editor of the Field Artillery Journal, she wrote several articles and reviewed books pertaining to military operations. She edited all manuscripts submitted for publication.

She was chosen for her congeniality by her co-workers and was honored with an articles in the Fort Sill Canoneer. She was named "Suggestor of the Quarter" for the first quarter of the fiscal year for 1971, having submitted a suggestion that resulted in the greatest first year savings for Fort Sill. She received numerous Outstanding and Superior Performance Awards throughout her career at Fort Sill. At retirement, she was awarded the Commander's Award for Civilian Service and was inducted into the Order of Saint Barbara, an honorary organization for Field Artilleryman. She was the first civilian woman to receive this award. She was an American Contract Bridge League silver life master.

She is survived by her sons, Michael J. Corrales, of Norman, OK, James L. Corrales and his significant other, Becky Jones, of Randlett, OK; grandchildren, Tommy May, of Lawton, OK, Zac Corrales, Kasady Corrales, and Micah Corrales, all of Norman, OK, Chris May, of AL, John May, of CA, James Corrales of Comanche, OK, Lawrence Corrales of Norman, OK, and Sean Corrales, of Oklahoma City, OK.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Corrales; her daughter, Sandra Carol Smith; her sister, Opal Mae Prausa; her brother, Floyd Wesley Deck, and her parents.
