Jerry passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016 at Tri-County Healthcare Hospital in Wadena, MN.
Jerry was born to Norbert and Theresia (Braith) Ament on December 7, 1946 near Bluegrass, MN. He was united in marriage with Margaret Skaro on June 15, 1968, at St. Hubert's Catholic Church in Bluegrass. Three children were born to this union, their twins Brian and Michele, and two years later, Dick.
Jerry worked with his dad on the farm until he was 20 years old. He went to work for Uselman Motors as a parts-man, Montgomery Wards and later Dick N Dale's Coast-to-Coast as a salesman. He also worked for Homecrest as a welder, Olson's Feed Store, Monarch Ice Cream, Purity Milk, and Beloved Computers. Jerry also worked in dairy farming. When time allowed, he loved being outdoors, especially when hunting and fishing.
In 2001 Jerry had a heart attack and stroke which made it necessary for him to reside at the Elder's Home in New York Mills and later Fair Oaks Lodge in Wadena.
Preceding Jerry in death were his parents Norbert and Theresa and brother Jeffrey.
Surviving Jerry are his devoted wife Margaret of Wadena; sons Brian (Kelly) of Vergas and Dick (Stephanie) of Lakeville; daughter Michele (Vaughn) Smith of Elk River; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sisters Terri Kern, Karen (Tony) Mattson and Sheila (Tim) Maijala; brothers Norbert (Dianne), Stan (Jean) and Keith; along with numerous nephews, nieces, and aunts and uncles.
Burial will be in Leaf River Cemetery, Wadena, MN.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials go to a charity of your choice.
