Minnie married Burnis B. Barnes in Kingsdown, Kansas in 1914. Their marriage lasted for 50 years.
Minnie was a minister for the Pilgrin Holiness Church, now known as the Wesleyan Church, and her work took her and Burnis to Nebraska, Colorado, as well as Kansas.
No children were born to this marriage, but they adopted Burnis' nephew Elbert Barnes and also kept Burnis' brother Roy in their home for about 9 years.
