Lola J. Peterson, 90, passed away on June 20, 2016, at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, CO.

Lola June Card was born to Robert and Edith (Utke) Card on March 8, 1926, in Fargo, ND. She grew up and attended schools at Alice and Fingal North Dakota Public Schools, graduating from Enderlin High School in 1944. She attended and graduated from North Dakota State University in Fargo in 1948 with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Home Economics, Arts and Design.

She married Robert D. Peterson of Enderlin, North Dakota, on November 10, 1948. The couple worked with a third generation funeral service in Enderlin until his father retired, when they purchased The Peterson Funeral Home in 1963. They operated the funeral home until they retired in 1990. Upon retirement they moved to Fargo to make their home, and for many years enjoyed their lake home on Fish/Pelican Lake near Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.

Lola enjoyed and appreciated the beauty of Mother Nature, she was a bird watcher, and especially appreciated the changing colors of the seasons, the beautiful sunsets at the lake and all the activities on the lake. She was a dedicated, hard-working person, who faced her lengthy illnesses the way she lived her life with a positive outlook, always looking for the best and never-quit attitude. She continued to be a guiding light and inspiration to her family and to her friends. She was the center of her family, she was an integral part of every facet of their lives. In her, the threads of their lives became cord and cable...now they feel frayed and unraveled.

Lola will be forever loved and missed by her family.

During the later years, she and Robert spent the winter months at their home in Grand Junction, Colorado, to be near their son, Scott, and his wife, Juanita. After her husband's death in 2012, she sold their home in Fargo to make her new permanent home in Grand Junction, Colorado.

She is survived by her son, Scott (Juanita) of Grand Junction, and a sister, Mrs. William (Bette) Enright of La Mesa, California.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday June 28, with visitation one hour before the funeral at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center. Interment will be at Enderlin City Cemetery in Enderlin, ND.
