THOMAS SMALL, ILL NINE WEEKS, DIES - Thomas H. Small, 99, succumbed at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Dickey Nursing home in Elwood. Ill for the past nine weeks, he would have been 100 years old on December 27. He resided at 217 East Jackson street. Services have been arranged for 10 a.m. Saturday at East Union Christian church, with burial to follow in East Union cemetery. The body will lie in state at Leatherman-Morris Funeral home, where friends my call after 7 p.m. today and will be taken to the church at 9 a.m. Saturday. The son of Archibald and Mary Ann (Coats) Small, he was born Dec. 27, 1860 in Tipton county. He and Florence Dodson were married on Dec. 27, 1928 in Tipton. Engaged in farming until 1941 when he came to Tipton, he was a member of the East Union Christian church and a charter member of the Atlanta Masonic lodge. Surviving are the window, a daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Small, of Miami, Fla., and three step-children, Charles Dodson, of Danville; Mrs Kenneth Enright, of Tipton, and Mrs. Ralph Curtis, of Grand Rapids, Mich. A grandson, Thomas Small, of Galveston, and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive.
