VETERAN
Glen William Close, 88, of Monroe, Utah, passed away of natural causes on June 18, 2016, at his home in Monroe. He was born July 7, 1927, in Spanish Fork, Utah, to George William and Ella Bartlett Close. He married Leona Ann Haskell in 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had six children together. They later divorced. He married Rita Allred, later divorced. Glen married Donna Parry Gillies, November 9, 1988, in Ely, Nevada. They were married for 27 years.
Glen graduated from Spanish Fork High School where he played basketball. He was World War II Navy Veteran. Glen was a masonry contractor and was awarded Utah Mason Contractor of the Year in 1968. He was a sportsman and loved to golf, fish and hunt. Glen and Donna were called to serve a mission to the Manti Utah LDS Temple, where they served for over two years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Rae Close, Monroe; children: George Earl (Kathy) Close, Ogden; Maurene (Leigh) Williams, West Valley; Robert Jay (Tauna) Close, Elk Grove, CA; Steven Mark Close, Draper; 23 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren;
Preceded in death by parents; sons: Mark and Allen Close; brothers and sisters: Willis Mattinson, Max Mattinson, George Close, Faye Gustin and Ralph Mattinson.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. in the Spanish Fork Cemetery. Interment will be with military rites in the Spanish Fork Cemetery. Magleby Mortuary is in charge or arrangements.
