Daughter of Mitchel Richards and Nancy W. Tiffany who were married on November 24, 1853. Mitchell died on October 28, 1856. Nancy W. Tiffany Richards married Reuben Hannaford on December 30, 1858.

Carrie married Frank A. Hale in Solon, OH, on
October 23, 1873.

The household of Carrie Hale and her husband Frank Hale at 789 Republic in the 1898 and 1899 Cleveland, OH, city directories included her mother, Nancy W. Hannaford, and half-sister, Mary Hannaford Mowrey. In 1900 U.S. census, Mrs. Nancy Hannaford and Mrs. Mary Mowrey (divorced from Fred H. Mowrey) were also shown as living at the Hale residence, then at 744 Republic St., Cleveland, as well as in the 1900 and 1903 city directories. In the 1904 Cleveland, OH, city directory at 744 Republic, Mary was reported for the first time as the widow of Fred Mowrey.

In the 1910 U.S. census, the household of Carrie Hale and Frank Hale at 1891 E. 101st, Cleveland, OH, included her mother Nancy Hannaford, age 89, and half-sister Mary H. Mowrey. Mary was also shown at that address in the Cleveland city directories in 1907, 1911, and 1915.

Mother, Nancy Hannaford, died in 1910 at the family residence, 1891 E. 101st St, per her obituary.

Frank Hale died on March 20, 1916.

In 1920 U.S. census, Mary H. Mowrey and Carrie D. Hale are shown in same household at 1954 71st St., Cleveland, OH.

In the 1920 Cleveland, OH, city directory, p. 131, Mary was shown as widow of F. H. Mowrey, at 1954 E. 71st St. ; on p. 731, Carrie shown at 1854 (sic) E. 71st St. as widow of F. A. Hale. Carrie's address entry is a typo in the address since both sisters lived together at 1954 E. 71st St. as shown in the 1920 census.

Mary's death in 1920 left Carrie as the sole family member shown in the 1930 U.S. census, Cleveland, OH, under the name Mrs. Frank (misindexed as Rank) A. Hale.

Carrie D. Hale 84, was living with housekeeper Pearl Boltz, 58, on Ford Drive, Cleveland, OH. in 1940 U.S. census.

Carrie died on April 16, 1942, and is buried near Frank.
