Last rites held for John Cooper

Funeral services will be held in Dimmitt Saturday for John Cooper of Roosevelt, Utah, who died Tuesday morning in the VA Hospital in Salt Lake City.

Mrs. Cooper, a victim of cancer, was the brother-in-law of Mrs. Lewis Neal of Dimmitt.

Last rites will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Lee Street Baptist Church, with Rev. Charles Harris, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Castro Memorial Gardens, under the direction of Dennis Funeral Home.

A native of Oklahoma, Mr. Cooper was a long-time employee of the Texas Highway Dept. in Tulia. Also, he and his wife, Hazel, managed the Hillcrest Motel in Tulia for several years. He had been employed by a seismographic company at Roosevelt for the last eight or 10 years.

In addition to his sister-in-law here, he is survived by his wife, Hazel; two sons, Ronnie and Randy; a daughter, Diane Manning; and two grandchildren.

Elmer John Cooper, age 50, died May 22 in a Salt Lake Veterans hospital. He was born in Snyder, Okla., Nov. 21 [sic], 1922. He lived in Roosevelt about one year and worked for the Uintah Basin Drilling.

Survivors include sons and daughters, Ronald Clay, Ft. Knox, Ky.; Randal Ray, Fredonia, Ariz.; Diane Manning, Roosevelt, Roosevelt [sic]; wife, Hazel Cooper, Roosevelt. Three grandsons.

Mr. Cooper was buried in the Dimmit [sic] Texas Cemetery.
