Nancy Lee Elaine Martin, age 74, of Hancock, went home to be with her precious and never-failing Lord on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at her home.
She was born in Washington County, Md. on October 9, 1941, to the late Burman A. and Ida B. (Barnhart) Wills, of Hancock. Her father died in 1973 and her mother in 1988.
Her first husband, Robert L. Breeden, Sr. was killed in an industrial accident on January 13, 1968, at the former Pennsylvania Glass Sand Corporation in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., leaving behind four sons, Robert L. Breeden, Jr, of Falling Waters W.Va., Jeffrey L. Breeden, of Warfordsburg, Pa., Michael T. Breeden, of Holiday, Tn., and Thomas W. Breeden, of Zullinger, Pa.; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren; and step-great- grandchildren.
On February 2, 1970, she married Nathan E. Martin, in Winchester, Va. He passed away on August 9, 2007, at the State Line, Pa. Nursing Home, due to many health complications. By that marriage, she gained 3 step-children; one daughter, Angela E. McFadden; two grandchildren; step-grandchildren; and step-great-grandchildren.
She graduated in the class of 1959 from Hancock High School.
She became a member of the true church of God, the Body of Christ, in April 1979, and then in July, 2003 she re-dedicated her life anew to Him. Her late, beloved Pastor George Lashley had anointed her at Bethel Independent Church for her aggressive cancer, in her knowing that her life would soon be over unless the Lord, in His infinite mercy, saw fit to heal her, and He did not fail to do so. She would be the first to tell anyone, saint or sinner alike, that she was the failure, not the Lord.
She regularly supported the Wilderness Missionary Foundation of the late Royce Thomason, in Waxahachie, Texas which, by God’s grace, is still in progress today. She also supported Jack Skinner's Voice of Miracles and Missions, in Dallas Texas, and she had a personal ministry of sending cards of encouragement to those whom the Lord had laid on her heart…all for His glory, none of hers…plus trying to lift up the blood-stained banner of Jesus Christ to the saved and lost alike for several years in the self-paid local newspaper article which the Lord laid on her heart.
For several years she had attended the Bethel Independent Church at Sleepy Creek, under the Ministry of Pastor George Lashley. Two weeks before his death, he made his desires known that he wanted nothing, nor anyone (not even myself), to interfere with my ministry for the Lord, as no matter what the cost, “It would be worth it all when we see Jesus.”
For about fifteen months, she attended Black Oak Independent Church under the ministry of Pastor Floyd Clark, until it closed.
In addition to her sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she is survived by five sisters, Jessie Weicht and Judy Powell, both of Warfordsburg, Pa., Charlotte Golden, of Big Pool, Md., Vesta Maravelis, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Beulah Maravelis, of Hagerstown, Md.; two brothers, Marvin Wills, of Sleepy Creek, W.Va., and Gary Wills, of Warfordsburg, Pa.; 3 step-daughters, Della J. Costanzo, of Manheim, Pa., Debra K. Hasty, of Washington, D.C.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was also preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Joseph and Alice Wills of Little Orleans, Md.; her maternal grandparents, Peter Howard and Marietta (Breakall) Barnhart, of Needmore, Pa.; two infant sisters; two beloved sisters, Mary E. Booth and Phyllis E. Appel; two beloved brothers, Herbert and Ronald Wills; and an infant grandson, Robert Edgar Breeden.
The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, on Monday, June 20, 2016, from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 1:00 p.m.Pastor William Swope will officiate. Burial will follow at the Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Cemetery.
