Dr. Dean L Bunderson passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on June 14, 2016.

Our dad, grandpa, great grandpa, uncle and friend grew up in Brigham City, son of Hervin and Leona Linford Bunderson with his three sisters, Gayle, Mary, and Leona.

He was student body president, a football and track star, and state 100 yard dash champion while attending Box Elder High School. He then enrolled at Utah State on a track scholarship.

His college education was interrupted while he served an LDS mission in Hawaii, where he was living when Pearl Harbor was bombed. Dad then joined the US Navy and completed Medical School at the University of Chicago before returning to Hawaii to serve at the Navy Hospital. While in Chicago, he met and married Velma Straub in 1945.

In 1951, he and Velma returned to Brigham City where dad established his medical practice, retiring in 2005 after practicing medicine nearly 60 years. Velma passed away in 1984. He married Keely Arbon, who passed away in 2003.

Preceded in death by his parents, sisters and brothers-in-law. Survived by his son Jon(Peggy) Bunderson, daughter Kristine(Mal) Purcell, daughter Karly Bunderson, five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

A viewing will be held Sunday, June 19, from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m., at Myers Mortuary, 205 South First East, Brigham City. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Monday, June 20, at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Primary Children's Hospital, Salt Lake City.

The family extends special thanks to the caring and compassionate staff, aides, nurses and doctors at Maple Springs Assisted Living and the Brigham City Community Hospital.
