Pioneer Woman Spent Most Of Life In Cogswell Community

Mrs. Lillie Virginia Ellington, 87, died Friday night at her home in Haldeman. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at the Anderson Funeral Home, which handled arrangements. The daughter of the late Joseph and Cordelia Williams McKinney, she was born October 23, 1863 at South Portsmouth, Kentucky. She spent most of her life in and around Cogswell in Rowan County. She was a life-long member of the Licking Union Methodist Church. On January 24, 1883, she married John Ellington who died in 1908.

Survivors include two sons, Reynold and Raymond, both of Morehead; a sister, Mrs. Nannie C. Williams, Morehead; and three brothers, E. W. McKinney, John McKinney and Willie McKinney.
