Detmer married Elmorene C. Stogner in 1934. She passed away in 1969. He then married Minnie Stimbert in 1971. She passed away in 2001.
Detmer worked at NPPD Electric Company in Hastings, for many years.
He is survived by: daughters, Elizabeth Burchard and Janet Fitzsimmons; son, Dennis; seven grandchildren, Stuart, Christopher and Ryan Burchard, and Cassandra, Gavin, Christopher, and Michael Fitzsimmons.
He is preceded in death by: sisters, Vera Taylor, Neva Godwin and Caroline Murray; brothers, Wayne, Cecil, Waldo and Max.
Services on Saturday, June 17, 2006 at the United Methodist Church in Juniata, Nebraska. Burial at Parkview Cemetery.
