He was Mustered Out on 9/28/1865.

GAR Post 274 Custer NENewspaper article in the Custer County Chief states: Hezekiah had been ailing for many weeks, ever since he was thrown from a wagon coming home from Ansley, Wounds received at that time caused blood poisoning and eventually his death. Services were held at the Methodist Church in Westerville and burial was at the Douglas Grove Cemetery in Comstock, Nebraska.
His obituary reads: Hezekiah Hively was born in Lincoln County Ohio, November 13th, 1828, where he resided during his boyhood days. From there he went to Whitley County, Indiana, where he resided for some time. He enlisted in Company F, 9th Regiment of Indiana Volunteer Infantry November 3rd, 1864, and was discharged by reason of close of the war.
On the 25th day of July, 1866, he was married to Sarah E. Miller and from this union there were six children, one of whom is dead. His wife and five children survive to mourn his loss; Irwin, who resides in Iowa; Emma, at Holdrege, Neb; David, at Arcadia; Ida, at Sargent, and Edward at Westerville, all being present at his death, except Ervin.
He has been a resident of Custer County Nebraska for some years. He united with the Christian Church about twenty years ago and was a member at his death. He joined Crittenden Post, G.A.R., by muster, November 9th, 1903 and was a member in good standing at his death. He died May 26th, 1909, aged 80 years, 6 months and 13 days. The funeral sermon was preached in the church at Westerville, and the remains laid to rest in the Douglas Grove cemetery, attended by the members of the Post and friends.
