Knutson dies in hospital
Leo E. ("Moose”) Knutson, 1603 Themis, died unexpectedly early this morning at Southeast Missouri Hospital. He was 50 years old.

He was born April 10, 1915, at Two Harbors, Minn. On May 1, 1960, he married the former Jerry Flanary at Cairo, Ill.

A veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, Mr. Knutson for the past 13 years was associated with the Electrolux Corp., moving here from Belleville, Ill., nine years ago.

He was also associated with the Mid-America Teen Challenge Center, and prior to joining Electrolux had worked with the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. in Cairo.

Active in affairs of the Methodist Church, for many years Mr. Knutson served as co-ordinator for Methodist Lay Witness Missions, traveling extensively throughout the Midwest and doing lay ministry work in that capacity.

A member of Maple Avenue United Methodist Church, Mr. Knutson was a Sunday School teacher and past president of the Methodist Men of the church. He had also been a member of the choir many years.

Mr. Knutson was also active in the Gideon Society, serving as its treasurer here. He was a member and membership chairman of the Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship.

Surviving: his wife; sons, Greg Knutson, Cairo, and Lanny William Knutson, Indianapolis, Ind., daughter, Miss Robin Lynn Knutson, of the home; brother, Arnold C. Knutson, La Crosse, Wis.; sister, Mrs. Margaret Kristifek, Chicago, Ill., and four grandchildren.

The body is at Ford and Sons Funeral Home, where friends may call after 2 Thursday afternoon.

Service will be held Friday at 1:30 at the funeral home with the Rev. James Norris, pastor of Maple Avenue United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
