Mr. Orrin (Oren) J. VICKERS VICTIM OF INFLUENZA

The friends and relatives of Mr. Orrin James Vickers were shocked on last Friday to learn of his untimely death in Savannah.

He had ten days ago visited his half-brother, Mr. Elisha L. Vickers, here and was in the best of health up to that time. Contracting the influenza on his trip he succumbed to the disease in a Savannah hotel Friday night.

Although only a young man of thirty-eight years, he had traveled extensively through South America and several other countries and had accumulated a great wealth.
Starting in business at Nashville, Ga. when only a boy, he has risen steadily to a place of prominence in the business world.

He married about eight years ago and has since lived in Gasparilla, Florida, where he has many business interests.

With all his successes in life he did not neglect the most important thing. He gave his life to God and joined the Baptist church under Dr. Len G. Broughton's ministry while living in Atlanta.

He remained a member of the church up to the time of his death.

He leaves a wife to mourn his loss. He was a son of the late Wiley Vickers, a brother of Mrs. John Grantham. He has many relatives in Douglas and through out the county who are mourning his death.

The remains were brought to the home of Mr. Elisha L. Vickers Saturday night.

Interment at Arnie burying ground at ten o'clock Sunday. The Masons had charge of the ceremonies and Rev. T. S. Hubert conducted the funeral services. Mrs. Vickers was joined at Waycross by Mr. Henry Corbett of Pearson, who accompanied her to Douglas. A friend from Florida, Miss Greenwood, also came with her.
