William was the son of Justis & Mary (Culver) Knapp.

Wm married Elizabeth Aurilia Fisk in 1865 in New York.

They had twelve children: Carrie Leora, Mary Louise, William Francis, Silas Fisk, Jessie Ernest, Lydon Vance, Daisy Maude, Lucy Ardellia, Sylvia Mabel, Samuel Fay, Charles Earl, and David Clinton.

They lived near Yutan, Saunders Co, NE and later moved to Kansas.

Wm was injured during the war and later in life lived in the Veterans Home for Disabled Soldiers.
