Born on December 11th, 1921, in Lenoir City, Tennessee, he was the son of John and Annie (Dugan) Bowden. He attended school in Benton Harbor, Michigan and served our country honorably in the United States Army Air Corps in WWII. On October 21st, 1945, in Sacramento, California, he was united in marriage to Betty Louise Vincent. They made their home in Sacramento and Cormicle, California, where he was employed at Pacific Bell for 38 years until retiring in 1983. William also enjoyed volunteering for a handicapped Boy Scout Troop and for the blind in Sacramento.
Left to mourn his loss is his five children: Jeffrey Bowden of Sacramento, Dudley Bowden of Sacramento, Krista (Gary) Vanness of Marshalltown, Iowa, John Bowden of Sacramento and Mike Bowden of Marshalltown, Iowa, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and his only sister, Sarah Pierce of Atlanta, Georgia. In death, he has rejoined his parents, two brothers Harold and Mitchell and his beloved wife, Betty, who died on November 7th, 1980.
