Clara Medina, age 100, beloved mother and grandmother of six generations was called to her eternal resting place on June 11, 2016.
Clara was born to Stephen and Serapia Sánchez in Juan de Dios (Santa Rosa), NM in 1916.
Clara moved to Albuquerque in 1959 with her husband, Alfonso.
Clara retired from the University of New Mexico.
Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Alfonso, siblings, Alfredo Sánchez, Pelajio Sánchez, Alfonso Sánchez, Tana García and Julia Aragón, daughter, Lita Larranaga, grandchildren, Curtis Page, Jerry Medina, Joleen Burton, Raymond Chávez, Rachel Zamora and Matthew Chávez.
Clara is survived by her children, Thelma Chávez, Josie López, Viola Page and Chris Medina and his wife, Carroll, 30 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren!
Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at French – Wyoming. Friends may visit beginning at 6:30 p.m. Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at the Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11509 Indian School Rd. NE. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Shrine of St. Bernadette following interment. Pallbearers will be Robert Medina, Keith Page, Steven Baca, Victor Chávez Jr., Raymond Chávez Jr. and Severo Moreno.
