George Charles Souza Sr. was born Tuesday, November 4, 1919 in Fremont to Joseph Norman Souza and Emily Freitas.

George was a member of the Operating Engineers Union Local No. 3 of San Francisco and the Teamsters Union Local No. 70 of Oakland. From 1968 until his death, he was an Operating Engineer with Mission Pipeline Company.

He was the beloved husband of Beverly Jeanne Curtis and the beloved father of four children. They resided in Oakland, San Francisco, and Fremont.

George had many health problems. From 1971 until his death, he suffered from arteriosclerosis heart disease. From 1975 until his death, he suffered from severe congestive heart failure. In June 1978, he underwent surgery for metastatic colon cancer. George passed away of cardiac arrest on Friday, November 24, 1978 at Washington Hospital in Fremont.

Recitation of The Holy Rosary was held on Monday, November 27, 1978 at 7:30 p.m. at Fremont Chapel of the Roses Mortuary located at 1940 Peraita Boulevard in Fremont, where calling hours were held from 2:00 until 7:30 p.m. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, November 28, 1978 at 10:15 a.m. in the Fremont Chapel of the Roses Mortuary.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:45 a.m. in St. Leonard's Catholic Chruch located at 4358 Bora Bora Avenue in Fremont.
George was laid to rest following the conclusion of the Mass in the Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery in Hayward.
