Elizabeth P Ellis aka Bettie Smoot was the daughter of Hezekiah and Mary (Brown) Ellis. She had five siblings, two of which are also buried at St. Mary's - Robert and John Henry Ellis. Her husband, Richard Henry Smoot and three of her sons - Joseph, Richard Thomas, and Robert Lee with many of their families members- are also buried in this cemetery. Elizabeth and Richard Henry had 13 children in all, their daughter, Leonora, was my gg-grandmother.
