Son of William and Judy P (Shaw) Tuckerman. Married Ann Eliza Prentiss on Jan. 23, 1839, in Philadelphia, PA, dau. of John M. and Sarah M. Their children were (1) William Edward (changed his name to Edward Gustavus), b. In Philadelphia, Nov. 13, 1840; m. Aug. 17, 1862, Maria T. Adams, in Lowell, Mass, one son b. 1863, (2) Prentiss, b. Cambridge, MA, June 24, 1842;
m. Dec 1, 1863, in Philadelphia, to Laura A. Trager, who had one son, b. 1865, and by a second wife a son, Clarence Prentiss, b. 1880. J.P. is a jeweller, store 658 Broadway, corner Bond Street, (3) Josephine Mackay, b. Seacombe, Cheshire, England, Dec. 5, 1853; d. Aug 4 1853, in Brooklyn, N.Y. Mrs. Sarah M. (Prentiss) Tuckerman, d. in 1879. Ann E. P. Tuckerman survives in 1882.
