21 Jun. 1979, Mediapolis New Era, Mediapolis, IA -- Mrs. Lucille Hutchcroft, age 82, died Monday, June 18, 1979 at the Burlington Medical Center, Burlington.
She was born, December 16, 1896, in Des Moines County, the daughter of Charles F. & Ella Guy VanNice. On August 21, 1917, she was married to Clarence A. Hutchcroft, who preceded her in death Oct. 5, 1958.
Surviving are two sons, Dr. Charles D. Hutchcroft, Ames, and Harold W. Hutchcroft, Middletown; two daughters, Mrs. Gilman Wright (Irene) and Mrs. Frank Trevitt (Margaret); 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; one brother, Howard G. VanNice, Burlington.
Preceding her in death were two sons, Richard at two years of age and Lt. Lester E., a Marine casualty on Iwo Jima in March 1945, and one daughter, Mrs. Charles Nelson (Anne).
Also three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Atherton in 1952, Mrs. Margaret Spring, in 1944, and Mrs. Euretta Bailey, 1968. Two brothers, Earl Maxwell VanNice and William H. VanNice, 1970.
Mrs. Hutchcroft joined the Kossuth Presbyterian Church in 1910. Later when this organization was disbanded, her membership was transferred to the First United Presbyterian Church in Mediapolis.
She had honorary memberships in the Mediapolis Federated Study Club and the American Legion Auxiliary and was a member of the local Wednesday Club. She was an active member in the Women's Association of the Presbyterian Church and served as a Sunday School teacher for many years.
