Birth date is February 12, 1864. 1900 census shows the month and year of her birth as February 1864. Death certificate has typo of her birth year as 1854, but shows her correct age as 76 years, 4 mos. 16 days.

Married on October 28, 1884, in Kane County, IL. Per marriage certificate, Ida May Newton is daughter of F. H. Newton (Forest H. Newton) and Febe (phonetic spelling of Phoebe) Hamilton Newton. 50th anniversary announcement in Grand Rapids Herald, October 28, 1934, reports her birthplace as Aurora, IL.

Newton/Hamilton/Tiffany relationships:

Forest H. Newton married first wife Phoebe Hamilton (1842--?) on December 30, 1857, and had daughter Ida Newton (1864—1940) (who married Benjamin Denton Tiffany, brother of Edward F. Tiffany, Sr.).

Later, Forest married Phoebe’s sister Rachel R. Hamilton (1854—1921) and had Arthur Wellington Newton (1880—1918)(who married Martha Marion Tiffany, daughter of Edward F. Tiffany, Sr.).

Rhoda Hamilton 1845—1898, sister of both Phoebe and Rachel, was first wife of John H. Steele who was second husband of Laura Jane Martin Tiffany Steele (second wife of Edward F. Tiffany Sr. & Martha’s mother).

Samuel Morse Newton and Hannah Holt Newton are parents of both Abel Newton (father of Forest Newton) and Sylvester Newton (father of Oscar S. Newton). Mary E. Hamilton (sister of Phoebe, Rachel, and Rhoda) married Oscar S. Newton, Forest Newton's first cousin.

Note that the first husband of Minnie Tiffany Russ (also daughter of Edward F. Tiffany and Laura Jane Martin) was Jesse Newton, son of Delbert [Adelbert] Newton. But his Newton line does not appear closely related, if at all, to the lines of either Forest or Oscar.
