Funeral of A. L. Doolittle held on Tuesday
The funeral servicws of the late A. L. Doolittle were held at the family home on the North Rockford road on Tuesday afternoon. Many nighbors and friends were in attendance.
Rev. W. H. Jones, pastor of the First Baptist church of this city, conducted the services. The singer was Mrs. J. Congcor and the bearers were: Fred S. Dubois, S. J. Hicks, Charles Ackerman, William Luce, George Cross and Pillip Huber.
Interment was in the Belvidere cemetery. A brother of the deceased, Edward Doolittle, of Carson, Iowa, and a brother-in-law, Adolph Ketcham of Rodney, Michigan, were present. Interment was in the Belvidere cemetery.
A. L. Doolittle was born in Winebago county September 26, 1848. He united with the Free Will Baptist church at Cherry Valley in his youth. He was married to Miss Alice Legate, Jan. 11, 1875. They removed to Iowa, where they lived seventeen years and then returned to this county and have resided in the vicinity of Belvidere since that time. The deceased had been in poor health for five or six years. He leaves his wife, an adopted daughter, three sisters and two brothers. He was a man of estimable character and many friends will mourn his departure from this life.
