Mrs. Katherine Hughes Davis, 69 years old, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hattie (Charles) Works, on North Broadway in Lexington, KY on Saturday afternoon, August 11, 1923. Mrs. Davis died from cancer of the scalp.

Mrs. Davis was the daughter of Joseph and Sarah Hale Hughes.

Mrs. Davis is the widow of the late J. C. B. Davis of Corinth, KY. She is survived by three daughters; Mrs. Hattie Davis Works (Charles L.) of Lexington, KY, and Maude Davis Hicks and Flora Davis Woolery of Corinth, KY, and three sons; Joe Davis of Fayette County, Jeff Davis of Cincinnati, Ohio, and John Davis of Lexington, KY. Mrs. Davis was predeceased by one daughter, Ella May Davis Works (John L.) and one son, Silas Davis.

Mrs. Hughes had the following siblings: John William Hughes; Rebecca Ann Hughes Works (Jefferson Davis); Cynthia 'Cynthie' T. Hughes Morgan (Ben) Fogle (Jasper); Nancy Ellen 'Nannie' Hughes Works (James Crawford); Silas P. Hughes; Augustus 'Gus' Hughes, Mary Frances 'Frankie' Hughes Ireland (Asa William 'A. W.'); George Samuel Hughes; and Granville Hughes.

Funeral services were held Monday, August 13, 1923 at the New Columbus Baptist Church at Corinth, KY. Burial in New Columbus (Fairview) Cemetery.

Katie Davis was my g-g aunt.
