Shirley Ann Britt. 79, of Liberty, MO died Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at the North Care Hospice House in North Kansas City, MO surrounded by her family. Shirley was born on December 9, 1936 in Richmond, MO to Searle and Marjorie (Kreeger) Stratton. Shirley was united in marriage to Billy Max Britt in 1954. This union was blessed with 3 children. Survivors include; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Kevin and Sherry Britt of Ft. Wayne, IN and Darren Britt of Kansas City, MO; one daughter, Denise Lehman of Pleasant Valley, MO; one brother and sister-in-law, James and Tebby Coffer of Stockton, MO; one sister, Betty J. “Jeanie” Clark of Liberty; four grandchildren, Amy, Ryan (Clarissa), Ben (Natasha) and Malarie; five great-grandchildren, Barbara, Tasha, Brynnan, Brooklyn and Garrett; her best-friend and companion, Donald Smith of Liberty; and a host of cousins and friends also survives. In addition to her parents, Marjorie Stratton Coffer and step-father Allen, and Searle Stratton, Shirley was preceded in death by one sister, Sally Sue Stratton. Shirley was a 1954 graduate of Camden High School, where she was salutatorian. She worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield as a claim examiner for over 20 years, before retiring in 1995. She was a member of the American Business Women’s Association. She was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends. Shirley lived in Liberty most of her life. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the American Diabetes Association, Arthritis Foundation or to the North Care Hospice House. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 13, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be Sunday, June 12, 2016 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be in the Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery.
