James J. Kearney passed away Sept. 21, 2012 surrounded by family and care givers. Jim was born in Ogden, UT on Nov. 17, 1940 to Claude and Hannah Kearney. He married his eternal companion, Linda Ann Morrison, on Sept 3, 1964 in the Salt Lake City Temple. A graduate of Brigham Young University, he worked for the FBI for 25 years retiring in 1997 as Forensic Section Chief. After moving to Illinois, he worked for the Illinois State Police as the Laboratory Director, Division of Forensic Services for the City of Chicago until 2003. He served as a faithful missionary for the LDS Church in the eastern United States and as a Sunday School president, High Priest Group Leader and temple worker in the South Jordan Temple. Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Jim was a strong influence in the lives of his family members and co-workers. Jim is survived by his wife, Linda, his sister, Patricia Gibbs, and a beautiful legacy of 7 children, 24 grandchildren, and great grandchild.
A memorial service in his honor will be held Tuesday, September 25th at 11:00 am at River 5th Ward, 1570 W. 11400 So., South Jordan. There will be a family visitation at the ward beginning at 10 am.
