CHICOPEE - Donald R. Picard, 81, of Chicopee, died on Tuesday, August 9, 2005 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. He was a retired thirty year postman at the Westover Air Force Base Sub-Station. Donald was born on February 16, 1924 in Chicopee and has been a life-long resident. He was the son of the late Isadore and Florida (Deslauriers) Picard. He was a World War II Army veteran serving with Company A, of the 318th Infantry Regiment and received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was a communicant of St. George Church and a member of the American Legion, Post 337 and the Disabled American Veterans in South Hadley. Donald was an avid fisherman and backyard tomato cultivator. He is predeceased by his wife, Patricia (Cook) Picard, who died in 1998. Donald is survived by three sons, Dennis D. Picard of Westfield, Barry L. Conway of Florida, and Ronald F. Conway of Longmeadow; two daughters, Pamela J. Brown of Gaithersburg, MD and Denise Picard Lindgren of Lexington; two brothers, Harold Picard of Chicopee and Francis Picard of Southwick; three grandchildren and one great grandchild. A funeral home service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2005 at the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St. in Chicopee at 10 am. The burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
