Mrs. Edith Hale, whose home was at Seventh avenue and Seventeenth street, died at 9 o'clock last night at St. Anthony's hospital from the effects of a surgical operation. Mrs. Hale was 44 years of age. She was born in Rock Island county, her name before marriage being Edith Badham. She formerly conducted a boarding house and was well known and highly esteemed. She is survived by three children: Archie, in Colorado, and Misses Birdie and Mamie, at home. Announcement of the funeral will be made later.

The funeral of Mrs. Edith Hale will be held tomorrow with services at the home of A. N. Looby, 907 Fifteenth street, at 9 o'clock. The remains will then be taken to McConnell's chapel, three miles west of Taylor Ridge, where services will also be held and the interment made in the burying ground.
