Gregory H. Ripp, age 89, died on Saturday, 7 Nov 1998 at Cedar Crossing Residential Facility in DeForest. He was born in Madison on 13 April 1909 to Gerhard and Margaret (Endres) Ripp; a twin brother with Joseph Ludwig Ripp. One of twelve children, he is the last to depart for his Fathers Heavenly Home. He served in the U. S. Navy in the European Theater from 1941 to 1945 and returned to Madison where he married Ruth Dickens, who died in 1979. They had three daughters. Gregory was a master carpenter and builder throughout his life. In 1980, he married Ida Nancy from DeForest, together they enjoyed traveling and their families. He was also a lifelong member of the Madison Elks Club. A devoted Catholic, he inspired many of us with the strength of his faith. Surviving him are his wife, Ida; two daughters, Roberta Ostrowsky of Madison, and Patricia (Ben) Pletsch of Naples, Florida; two sisters-in-law, Betty Hart and Velva Dickens; ten grandchildren; many great grandchildren; devoted relatives and cherished friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; eleven brothers and sisters; and a daughter, Mollie Wagner. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St Bernard Catholic Church, at 1 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, 11 Nov with Father Michael Hippie presiding. Friends may call from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. 10 Nov 1998 at the Gunderson Funeral Home, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Friends may make a memorial contribution in his name to a charity of their choice.
