Early Life: Rose was born June 27, 1920, to *Niels/James Peter and Martha Elizabeth Hurd Sorensen. Rose began life very premature, being kept alive by a dear mother who fed her with an eye dropper and warmed her in a shoebox on the oven door.
Life's Work/Service/Interests: On July 3, 1946, she married James Enoch Cheney; they later divorced. She married Elmer Holmes Mackley on October 15, 1982. She was an ambitious lady and loved people. She was a United States Army veteran and retired elementary school teacher of 20 years in Blackfoot, Idaho. A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Rose served in both the youth and women's organizations. She was a member of the Idaho Historical Society and the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Her very favorite hobby was playing guitar with the Idaho Old-Time Fiddlers for 15 years, serving eight of those years as State Treasurer. She also loved books and kept her mind active doing crossword puzzles. Rose Sorensen Cheney Mackley left this life May 30, 2016. She was 95.
Survived By: Her children: Jim (Connie) Cheney, of Spring City, UT; Marla (Homer) Workman, of Fountain Green, UT; Dave (Shirley) Cheney, of Orem, UT; brothers: Rex (Mary) Sorensen, of Santa Fe Springs, CA; Glenn Sorensen, of Fullerton, CA; 17 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Preceded In Death By: Her parents, both husbands, three sisters and two brothers.
