Adelia Dorothy Guhl, the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Kleppien Echkart, was born June 1, 1899 in Center Township near Hartley, Iowa. She was educated in schools near her childhood home. She was united in marriage to William Guhl on January 28, 1920 at Chokio. Minnesota. They made their home on a farm west of Hartley for forty years, moving to town in 1960.

She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and the Dorcas Society, and the Happy Hearts Senior Citizens Club all of Hartley.

She passed away at Hartley on April 8, 1988 at the age of 88 as the result of a car-train accident there.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband in 1979, five sisters. Ida Ahrens. Minnie Phillips, Bertha Eger, Amanda Dressier and Olga Baumgarn, and four brothers, an infant, Harry, Frank, and Walter.

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Thais Schmidt of Fremont, California, and Cleo, Mrs. Stan Bremer, of Hartley. Four grandchildren: James Schmidt, Dr. Billie Thomas and Wayne and Steven Bremer, five great grandchildren, as well as other relatives and friends.

Services in memory of Adelia Guhl were held 10:30 a.m. Monday. April 11, 1988 at Trinity United Church of Christ. Hartley, Iowa. Reverend Jean Rosewall officiated. Casket bearers were Virgil Ahrendt, Lowell Ahrendt. Dale Ahrendt, Lawrence Just. Earl Yager and John Solsma. Committal service was in Pleasant View Cemetery. Hartley, Iowa.
