Rites Saturday For Mrs. Grooms;
Died Thursday
Funeral services for Mrs. Lucy Grooms of Rt. 2, will be held Saturday at 1 PM at McEvoy Chapel. Burial will be in Birds Creek Cemetery. McEvoy will be in charge of all arrangements. The body is at the funeral home.
Mrs. Grooms died Thursday at 9:30 AM at Chesemore Hospital. She was 81.
Born April 9, 1888 in Henry County, she was the daughter of the late John B. Emerson and Laura Merrell Emerson. She was married in 1927 to Sam W. Grooms and he survives. She was a member of Birds Creek Church.
Besides her husband she is survived by one daughter Mrs. Shellie May Crawford of Houston, Tex., one son Hillman Ransey of Rt. 2; one sister Mrs. Avie Suiter of Mayfield; two brothers Bob and Bill Emerson both of Paris; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. One daughter, Mrs. Vernie Snow preceded her in death in 1969.
