Betty Parker, 88, of Hot Springs passed away Monday June 10, 2019. She was born May 16, 1931 to the late Helen Hawley Ledbetter and Clarence Ledbetter in Hot Springs.
Betty was a switchboard operator with the Sentinel Record for 20 years; a member of 1St Christian Church; Emblem Club #194 where she served as President, State President & headed the ways and means committee for years, started and directed the Emblem Club variety show for 22 years; The Century Club; Red Hats Society Outrageous Babes Chapter; organized and directed the Veterans Days USO show for many years; was active in PTA at Jones School; and headed up the Brownie Troops & Girl Scout Troops. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 47 years, Carlis Parker; her longtime companion, Oscar "Buddy" Gloor; her stepmother, Mabel Ledbetter and her stepsister, Katie Melton.
Survivors include her daughters, Helen Parker and Elizabeth (Tim) Melson; two granddaughters, Whitney (Clint) Hill & Addison Melson; several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Hot Springs Funeral Home.
Services will be Friday at 11:00 A.M. at Hot Springs Funeral Home with Reverend J.B. Evans officiating.
Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Tim Melson, Clint Hill, Mike Parker, David Miller, James Davis and Joe Bob Garner.
Honorary pallbearers are Carol Hawley, Charles Hawley, Dr. Timothy English, Dr. Ross Bandy and Donna Casparian and the staff of Quapaw Care and Rehabilitation. The family would like to thank the Ouapaw staff for all of their special care and kindness to our Mother. She had special relationships and bonds with so many of them. Added by Dr. Jim Moshinskie.
