(Special Dispatch to The Herald)
Worcester, May 12 -- Samuel Slater, retired business man of Providence who died in his chateau neary Vichy, France, today at the age of 70, was a brother of Mrs. Charles G. Washburn of Worcester. She is the widow of former Congressman Charles G. Washburn.
Mr. Slater was also an uncle of Slater Washburn, former member of the Legislature, and a brother-in-law of Reginald Washburn of Worcester, Robert M. Washburn of Boston and the Rev. Henry Washburn of Cambridge.
Mr. Slater had been living in France for a number of years.

Fortune to Housekeeper.
Moulins, France, June 20.-- The late Col. Samuel Slater, wealthy American, who died recently in Paris, is reported to have left his entire fortune to his housekeeper, Mme. Danton, 35, who lives with her husband at Belleville-sur-Allier, near Vichy, where Colonel Slater lived for several years. Slater was a native of Providence. RI.
