I noticed a mistake on the little bio on the side on her memorial. The mistake was made by the writer of the bio (posted) It says that Maria Malleville (Wheelock) Allen [# 46518877] was a daughter of Rev. Eleazar Wheelock [# 6811530] (who was, indeed, the founder and first president of Dartmouth College) whereas actually she was Eleazar's granddaughter, the only child of Eleazar's son, John Wheelock [# 6724376] and Maria Suhm [# 66220392] daughter of Christian Suhm, governor of St. Thomas, Danish West Indies, and Maria de Malleville, also of the West Indies—which is where the name "Malleville" came from, further back. John Wheelock was the second president of Dartmouth College.
One of Malleville's siblings was Thomas Allen [# 6423399]. His obelisk, at the Pittsfield Cemetery, reaches a towering height. On his daughter Elizabeth's memorial, it says "According to Wikipedia, her parents burial plot has the largest monolith of Missouri granite in the world & was cut from Allen's mine in the Ozarks… (thanks to Anna Jaech)" There are photos of it on his memorial site, as well as further history of his career.
Note: Women in the Allen family given the middle name of "Malleville" would be called by that middle name. For example, my great grandmother, Maria Malleville Wheelock (Smith) McClellan [# 63725376] although named "Maria" at birth was never called that and did not even choose to have it put on her gravestone!! Same with her daughter Mary Malleville, [# 63725376] though you can hardly read the stone. Still, you can see her nickname "Mallie."
