Born in East Weymouth, Mass., Oct. 6, 1942, a son of the late Stephen and Isabelle Dacey Hoydilla, he had been a Wallingford resident for 40 years. Stephen had been employed with SNET for 32 years until his retirement in 1994 and was then employed by Connecticut Transit for 10 years. He had served with the Connecticut National Guard for six years. He was an avid Red Sox and UConn Basketball fan and enjoyed bowling. He was a parishioner of SS. Peter and Paul Church in Wallingford and was a member of the Men's Club of the parish.
Besides his wife Diane, he is survived by his daughter, Colleen Hoydilla and her companion, Carl Acampora of New York City; his two sons, Stephen Hoydilla and his wife, Meredith of Ashburn, Va., and Joseph Hoydilla and his wife, Janine of Middletown; his two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Nicholas Hoydilla; his two brothers, Kenneth Hoydilla and Anthony Hoydilla, both of Meriden; and several nieces and nephews.
His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main Street, Ext., Wallingford, Friday, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, at 8 a.m. from The Wallingford Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to SS. Peter and Paul Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Interment will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Wallingford.
