Thomas H.P. "Ike" Campbell, 88, passed away Oct. 23, 2006, in Dothan, Ala. A native and longtime resident of Portsmouth Virginia, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Arline Page Campbell. Mr. Campbell was a retired yardmaster for the Conrail and Penn-Central Railroad, a member of the Grid Iron Club for more than 60 years and an Army veteran of World War II, participating in the Rhineland Campaign. Survivors include his devoted daughter, Ann Ahern and husband David of West Hartford, Conn.; loving son, Robert T. Campbell Sr. and wife Tamara of Level Plains, Ala.; grandchildren, David Ahern III of West Hartford, Brian Ahern of Boston, Mass., and Kyle Campbell and Robert T. Campbell Jr. of Level Plains; stepgrandchildren, Brian Mooney, currently serving in Ramadi, Iraq, and Alyssa Mooney of Level Plains; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Tom Potter. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m.
