Alice D. Hornickel, 84, Lake Mills, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015, at Autumn Winds of Oakland, Cambridge.
She was born on Sept. 19, 1931 in Lake Mills, the daughter of the late Karl and Emma (Goers) Thrun.
Alice married Raymond Hornickel on March 31, 1951. He died on Feb. 9, 1991.
She was a graduate of the Lake Mills High School, class of 1949, and had served as class treasurer.
Alice had been a secretary at the former Crepaco, Inc. in Lake Mills in the early 1950’s.
She was a member of the Lake Mills United Methodist Church, the Be-Ye-Doers, United Methodist Women, Sunshine Committee Chairperson for many years, helped with Meals on Wheels and helped prepare meals for the Madison homeless shelter, Coordinator of funeral lunches for years, and served on various church boards.
She had served as a Cub Scout Den leader and Girl Scout assistant leader.
Alice was a talented seamstress and enjoyed following her grandchildren in their sporting events.
Survivors include three sons, David (Mary Jo) of Lake Mills, Daniel (Martha) of DeForest, Douglas (Shelly Bade) of Fort Atkinson; one daughter, Dana (Paul) Ostrowski of Lake Mills; six grandchildren, Ryan (Nicole) Hornickel of Sheboygan, Kyle (Marie) Hornickel of Lake Mills, Mark (Kati) Hornickel of Maryville, Miss., Joel (Stephanie) Hornickel of Ozark, Miss., Emily (Jason) Lund of Lake Mills, Kelsey (Michael Nelson) Ostrowski of Plymouth, Minn.; nince great-grandchildren, Owen and Eli Hornickel, Evie and Macy Hornickel, Phoebe and Faye Hornickel, Sophia and Fred Hornickel, and Isaac Lund; two sisters-in-law, Esther Thrun of Lake Mills, Evelyn (Donald) Frisk of New Lisbon; other relatives and friends.
Also preceding in death was a stillborn daughter, Dawn; siblings, Elsie (Clarence) Kurtz, Carl Thrun, Paul (LeDoris) Thrun, Edward Thrun, Otto (Myrtle) Thrun, and Elizabeth Thrun.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015, at 12 p.m., at the Lake Mills United Methodist Church with the Rev. Edwin Vargas officiating.
Burial will be in the Rock Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. on Saturday at the church until the time of service.
