MARY BERNHARDT
Mrs. Otto Bernhardt, 82 of route 1, Mishicot, lifelong resident of the county, died early today at the Two Rivers Municipal Hospital. She had been an invalid for three years. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Saturday at the Zion Evangelical and United Brethren Church, Mishicot, the Rev. Robert Boettcher officiating. Burial will be in the Mishicot Cemetery.
She was born Mary Scharff in Newton in 1867and in 1884 was married to Mr. Bernhardt. They located on a farm in the Town of Mishicot. Her husband died 33 years ago and she continued to reside on the homestead until eight years ago when she went to live with two sons, Oscar and William in Gibson. She was a member of the Zion church and the Women's Society of World Service.
Survivors are six sons, Fred of route 5, Manitowoc, Emil of route 2, Manitowoc, Oscar and William of Gibson, the Rev. Hugo of Lark, Wis., and the Rev. Otto of Houston, Texas; 19 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
A son, Herbert was killed in a tractor accident in April, 1948. Friends may call at the Specht Funeral Home, Mishicot after 9 am Thursday. The casket will be moved to the church at 10 am Saturday to lie in state until the hour of services.
