GERALDINE SOWELL "Geraldine (Jerre) Sowell, 81, of Mcalester, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1999, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. Born May 14, 1918, in Forrest City, Ark., she was the daughter of William and Blanche (Arnold) Black.

At an early age, the family moved to Oklahoma and settled in the McAlester area. She married J. W. Sowell in August, 1950 in Fort Smith, Ark. and she was a homemaker. She was a retired owner of a retial liquor sales establishment. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include one sister and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two sisters.

Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are under the directon of Chaney's Funeral Home."
